Hello writers!
Hi friends,
Hope you are keeping warm in the winter cold! And enjoyed the brief moment of snow in Prague :) Here’s a little update from me:
WRITING AUDIO DRAMA workshop
The Prague Writers Workshop recently had our second Writing Audio Drama taster session and it was a blast! The workshop focused on openings and writing the ‘hook’. Getting a listener’s attention is notoriously challenging in audio drama, but when an opening is done well it can grab and keep a listener. We learnt about cold opens, anticipation and uncertainty as key elements to a beginning in audio drama. The participants were incredible – enthusiastic, inspired and so passionate about writing fiction for sound! It was a pleasure to have shared the time and space with them.
***SAVE THE DATE***
Our third workshop on Writing Audio Drama will occur on Wednesday 14 Dec, at 7pm, Electric Sheep Book Bar. In this session we will return to character in audio drama but will build on what we covered in the first session, in particular sound as characterisation. Look forward to seeing you there!

WRITING BOOK REVIEWS workshop
A question for you all: I make most of my writing money from doing book reviews (mostly longform) for different magazines, so it's something that I feel I could teach/do a workshop on...
However, is there interest in this? Would you attend a workshop on writing book reviews? Please reply in the comments if you would be interested so I can get an idea on whether I should run this or not. Thank you!
Lastly, as I’ve finished the first draft of my novel manuscript and currently deep in the revision process I’ve been thinking a lot about revision. I came across this article which talks about revision as ‘re-seeing’ and ‘re-dreaming’ rather than simply editing. I’m sharing in case it might be helpful for others:
One more thing: I have a writer’s newsletter that you can also subscribe to called ‘tangents converge’ to keep up to date with my own publications and musings:

Hope to see you all at the next workshop!
Warmly,
May
